Post Warrior in ab: Axe or Hammer?

Well i made a warrior today and started off with a hammer...Then i thought i do like axe too. When i do start to pvp with this char i was either gonna use the "Shock Axe" or "Devastating Hammer Warrior" build but cant decide axe or hammer. Well my first question is what is more wanted in ab and which is better to use? And my second question is, (whatever the oppinion of weapon and build) which runes and insigs to get and what armor piece to put on?

thanks for reading

I recommend Hammer if you like the knockdowns.

However, if you have good teamwork with your allies, and a good monk, definetely use shock axe. Remember to use shock sparingly though - as it causes what I like to call "Deep Wound on your energy". The thing about shock axe is that it has no self heals, which is why I recommend a monk before you try it. If you're just PUGing around, I suggest hammer, or whatever nice build you can make to protect yourself.

As for armor, of course, max, and as for runes, doesn't matter too much either, but I like to have 25 energy and around 500+ health, with a major vigor and a superior str/(weapon type here) rune.

Hope this helps

If a shock-axe build has no Heals, what makes you think a Dev Hammer one will?

Dev Hammer is bad in AB. Take Earth Shaker for AoE KDs or Prage to cap / gank stuff / run away. The exhaustion from shock is not worth it in the long matches.

Also, running superior runes are even worse, don't use them.

I believe he said the word "opinion according to build and weapon". Therefore, with a build I had suggested, a self protective, that is what I recommend according to it. This isn't a place to bash others recommendations - i'm simply stating my recommendation.

And in no way are superior runes terrible in PvP - i've used all kinds of runes, and I have plenty of experience in PvP.. I stated that if you're using superior runes and vigor runes, and it turns out to have ~500 health, you'll be fine.

Sadly, most of your post is your recommendations, as is mine. In no way should you be dethroning my post, as it all is a matter of opinion. Allow the OP to try what he likes. And I have no intend to start an argument.

Also - forgive my knowledge of the devastating hammer build, it was simply an assumption on my part .

As far as build goes it is really personal preference, try them both out and play whichever you enjoy. Most pugs wont even bother checking your build, and any worthwhile guildy should recognize the effectiveness of a decent warrior bar.

IcyFiftyFive is correct though, shock tends to be too heavy on energy in ab, where you will often be spending more of your energy on hard run skills, like sprint/enraging. Primal rage is amazing if you're not a complete idiot, though I would recommend an energy based cancel so you don't get caught with your pants down after losing adrenaline while running.

As far as hammer builds go, [Earth Shaker] Is definitely the way to go in ab. Bad players balling up and npcs on shrines make for some pretty devastating shutdown. Any fire eles on your team will love you for it also.

Where insignias are concerned, load up on full survivors, plus a stonefist. Stonefist can go on head/hands/feet, survivors everywhere else. For runes take a minor axe/hammer on a axe/hammer hat. Take a major strength if you're brave or using [enraging charge]. It's breakpoint is worth -35hp, but very little else is. Don't use more than a single major rune unless you want to asplode. Highest vigor you can afford, and 2 vitaes. Swapping one of the vitaes out for an anti blind rune (clarity?) can also be effective.
